Writing Award

The Imprint Fiction Writing Award was launched this year to help encourage and support emerging Ayrshire writers. Author and Imprint Patron Zoë Strachan, along with her colleagues at the Edwin Morgan School for Creative Writing at Glasgow University, will be judging the award. Winners will be announced on the final night of Imprint and William McIlvanney along with Zoë will present the prizes.

The Award was open to adults based in Ayrshire and all entries had to be fiction, in short story format, a maximum of 3000 words and previously unpublished.

Stories had to be inspired by the work of Robert Burns, but applicants were free to interpret this in any way e.g. choosing to use a title or quote from his work as inspiration or to write about a theme, place or person that appears in his work

First prize: £200, and 2 runner-ups prizes of £50 each. All entries will be judged anonymously.
