A passionate and poetic writer and documentary maker, Jim Crumley leads us through the ancient landscape of Scotland exploring the myths and the legends that enshroud Scotland’s history. In The Last Wolf Jim explores the place of the wolf in history, with his investigations ranging from Scotland to North America and from Norway to Italy. Arguing that the role of the wolf has been distorted and misunderstood, he makes the case for the reintroduction of the wolf into Scotland. In The Great Wood: The Ancient Forest of Caledon he continues his exploration of our historic and contemporary landscapes and of the animal and plant life that Scotland sustained up until the recent past. Described by the Los Angeles Times Book Review as ‘the best nature writer working in Britain today’, Jim Crumley was born and grew up in Dundee, and now lives in Stirlingshire. He has written over twenty books and has made documentaries for BBC Radio 4, Radio Scotland and Wildlife on One.
