Valvona & Crolla: A Year at an Italian Table Scottish-Italian food writer Mary Contini is one of Scotland’s best known cooks. She’s one of the owners of the sumptuous Italian deli Valvona and Crolla, a legend in Edinburgh for its carefully sourced cheeses, meats, oils, and wines. Mary was born and brought up in Edinburgh and East Lothian, growing up above the family ice cream shop, but her ancestors hail from Southern Italy, so lots of her recipes are influenced by her family background. She uses her recipes to highlight her Italian roots as well as charting the family journey from Italy to Scotland. Mary is also the author of a series of cook books for adults and children which bring together her recipes, her family life and the experiences of her grandparents as they made a new life in Scotland. “ … a remarkable book...a pleasure to read as well as to cook from” Homes & Gardens. Join us afterwards for a special tasting of samples of the finest Italian food stocked by her world-famous Valvona & Crolla deli.
