We are delighted to open the Imprint 09 adult programme with Neil Oliver - author and presenter of television series’ Coast and A History of Scotland.
Described by The Independent as a “hirsute archaeologist” Neil is a successful author, historian and TV presenter. Currently based in Stirling although originally from Ayrshire, Neil has no fewer than 6 books currently available.
A versatile writer, his books cover a wide range of subjects.
Amazing Tales for Making Men Out of Boys, published in 2008, recounts stories of courage, inspiration and endeavour ranging from the heroic exploits of Ernest Shackleton to the remarkable survival of the Apollo 13 astronauts.
Not Forgotten, published in 2006, explores the social impact
of the First World War and was described by the Daily Express as “… a deeply moving book about a war that is rapidly receding in our national consciousness”.
In a recent newspaper interview Neil said: “I feel ridiculously
privileged. I’ve got everything - an amazing wife, three wonderful kids and a fantastic job. If I was the richest man on Earth, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
