Readings and Imprint Writing Awards Presentation. Join us for an evening of achievement and inspiration at which we will announce the winners of the Imprint Writing Awards. This year, the theme of “5” and tight 500 word limit has challenged writers. The judging team at The Edwin Morgan School of Creative Writing at Glasgow University, marshalled by Imprint patron Zoë Strachan, sifted through many entries to come up with the winners. Kilmarnock native, Zoë Strachan’s most recent book Ever Fallen in Love has been very well received and Zoë, fresh from her appearances at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in the exalted company of (among others) Alasdair Gray and Will Self, will read from her new book after the awards ceremony. We are also delighted to welcome our own Kilmarnock literary giant, William McIlvanney. The path to recognition for a writer is never easy, and although feted as an author of national significance William McIlvanney was not an overnight success - he developed his craft over many years and is a fine example to aspiring writers. Expressing deeply held convictions and reflecting the lives of the communities in which he has lived, William speaks with a voice that is authentically Scottish but covers themes that are universal.
