“Strange, magical, spaced out, uncompromising” – meet the critically acclaimed graphic novelists and designers of this year’s Imprint cover. Book early for the chance to work with Glasgow-based Sandra Marrs and John Chalmers, the creative brains behind ‘Louis’ - the poetic, loveable but slightly unsettling star of the series of comic books. Metaphrog’s first work was the Strange Weather Lately series of ten comics produced between 1996 and 1999. Brought together into two graphic novels Strange Weather Lately was the first ever graphic novel to appear at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. In 2009, Metaphrog were commissioned by the Association for Scottish Literary Studies to adapt a poem by Edwin Morgan in comic form. On National Poetry Day, 35,000 copies of The First Men on Mercury comic adaptation was distributed to all Glasgow Secondary Schools and featured on STV’s The Hour by poet Liz Lochhead. Their new graphic novel, Louis - Night Salad, will be released in October 2010.
